I once again find myself drawn to the song "Rewrite the Stars" from the movie "The Greatest Showman" .... Which seems to always make itself back to "endless repeat" within my musical playlist.
Perhaps before you continue reading you can give the song a listen... And yes, I'm pretty sure after you have - you'll place me in the category of the "hopeless romantic" - a category truthfully, I'd never want to be removed from.
Rewrite the Stars
You know I want you
It's not a secret I try to hide
I know you want me
So don't keep sayin' our hands are tied
You claim it's not in the cards
And fate is pullin' you miles away
And out of reach from me
But you're here in my heart
So who can stop me if I decide
That you're my destiny?
What if we rewrite the stars?
Say you were made to be mine
Nothing could keep us apart
You'd be the one I was meant to find
It's up to you, and it's up to me
No one can say what we get to be
So why don't we rewrite the stars?
Maybe the world could be ours
Tonight
You think it's easy
You think I don't wanna run to you
But there are mountains
And there are doors that we can't walk through
I know you're wondering why because we're able to be
Just you and me within these walls
That it was hopeless after all
No one can rewrite the stars
How can you say you'll be mine?
Everything keeps us apart
And I'm not the one you were meant to find
It's not up to you
It's not up to me
When everyone tells us what we can be
How can we rewrite the stars?
Say that the world can be ours
Tonight
All I want is to fly with you
All I want is to fall with you
So just give me all of you
It feels impossible
It's not impossible
Is it impossible?
Say that it's possible
How do we rewrite the stars?
Say you were made to be mine?
Nothing can keep us apart
Cause you are the one I was meant to find
It's up to you
And it's up to me
No one can say what we get to be
And why don't we rewrite the stars?
Changing the world to be ours
You know I want you
It's not a secret I try to hide
But I can't have you
"We're bound to break and my hands are tied"
______________
Beautiful song, isn't it?
I find myself drawn to the message it carries—a message of hope, resilience, and the power to rewrite our own destinies. As the lyrics echo in my hearts, I am reminded of the beautiful paradox of the human spirit: the dreamer who yearns for the impossible, yet sometimes finds themselves confined by self-imposed limitations.
But what if I told you that amidst the mountains and closed doors of life, there exists a force that renders the word "impossible" obsolete? Life often confronts us with challenges that seem insurmountable. We stand before towering mountains, barriers that appear unconquerable, and doors that seem firmly shut, taunting us with their impenetrability. In moments of doubt and despair, we may even convince ourselves that change is beyond our grasp—that the stars are fixed in their celestial dance, beyond our reach to rewrite.
Yet, woven into the very fabric of our existence is a divine promise—a promise that transcends the limits of human understanding and defies the constraints of the material world. It is the promise of God's boundless love and the ever-present guidance of the Holy Spirit. With faith as our compass and courage as our companion, we discover that the impossible is merely a mirage—a temporary illusion that fades in the radiant light of divine possibility.
Throughout history, the pages of the Bible bear witness to the miraculous feats achieved by those who dared to believe in the power of God. From Moses parting the Red Sea to David slaying Goliath with a single stone, these stories serve as timeless reminders of the extraordinary potential that lies within each of us. In the face of overwhelming odds, these faithful servants dared to challenge the status quo, defying the expectations of the world and rewriting the narrative of their lives.
Consider the story of Joshua, who led the Israelites in the conquest of Jericho. As they stood before the imposing walls of the city, Joshua could have succumbed to doubt and fear. Yet, guided by the voice of God, he commanded his people to march around the city for seven days, blowing trumpets and lifting their voices in praise. And on the seventh day, as they obeyed God's instructions without question, the walls of Jericho crumbled before them, opening the way to victory.
Similarly, we find inspiration in the life of Esther, a young Jewish girl thrust into the heart of a perilous political intrigue. Faced with the looming threat of genocide, Esther could have remained silent, resigned to her fate as a powerless pawn in the machinations of men. But instead, she summoned the courage to speak out, risking her own life to plead for the salvation of her people. In doing so, she not only altered the course of history but also demonstrated the transformative power of faith in action.
As we reflect on these timeless tales of triumph and transformation, we are reminded that the same power that moved mountains and parted seas resides within each of us. It is a power that transcends the boundaries of human comprehension—a power that finds its source in the boundless love of God. With faith as our foundation and the Holy Spirit as our guide, there is no limit to what we can achieve.
In words of the late Oral Roberts, a renowned Christian evangelist who dared to dream the impossible, "Expect a miracle!"
With unwavering faith and unyielding determination, he defied skeptics and critics alike, proclaiming the miraculous healing power of God to all who would listen. His life serves as a testament to the transformative power of faith, inspiring millions to reach beyond the confines of doubt and embrace the boundless possibilities that lie within.
In our own lives, we are called to embrace this same spirit of faith—a faith that dares to believe in the impossible, even when the odds are stacked against us. It is a faith that compels us to step out of the shadows of doubt and into the radiant light of divine possibility.
For when we surrender ourselves to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the word "impossible" loses its power to intimidate and constrain us.
So, let us dare to dream the impossible, knowing that with God, all things are possible.
Let us "rewrite the stars" of our own destinies, guided by the light of divine love and fueled by the fire of unwavering faith. For in the boundless expanse of God's grace, there are no mountains too high, no doors too thick, and no dreams too lofty to be realized. It is a truth as old as time itself—a truth that beckons us to step boldly into the future, confident in the knowledge that we are never alone, for God is with us, now and forevermore.
As we journey forward, may we carry with us the timeless wisdom of those who have gone before us, and may we never lose sight of the miraculous potential that resides within each and every one of us. For in the tapestry of life, woven with threads of faith and courage, we discover the power to rewrite the stars and claim our rightful place in the divine symphony of creation.
